Also, for the Eclipse to show proper motion in the photo, panels 1 & 5 need to be swapped, and panels 2 & 4 need to be swapped.
Thank you for your comment. Viewing the eclipse in August directly through eclipse glasses, we saw the phases exactly in the order and orientation pictured in the quilt. Depending on the optics of various viewing methods (for example some telescopes, pinhole viewing) the image may be flipped as you describe.
I just finished String of Diamonds. C ended up being short and not squaring up with the rest of the placemat. I’m not sure if it was because I didn’t sew everything exactly or if it should have been cut at 1 1/4 inch instead of 1”.
Thanks for checking. The pattern is correct. C is cut 1" x 4 1/2". When all seams are sewn with a correct 1/4" seam allowance, the strip made up of 3 Units 1 and 2 C will measure 13 1/2" long, which is also the dimension of the remaining pieces of the placemat.
