Ready to sew

I really felt like sewing this week but since the machine was in the shop for maintenance my family put up with grumpy mom instead (sorry about that, family!)  Yesterday I was seized with the urge to cut up fabric.

Today the quilt shop called, a whole week earlier than I expected, to say my sewing machine was ready to come home.  Must be fate!

What you see above is going to turn into pieced sashing and a pieced border for these:

Guess what I’m going to be doing tonight?

  1. I'm pretty sure what you'll be doing tonight, but after cutting all that, I'd be ready to put my feet up! In fact, that's what I'm going to do, after being on my feet all afternoon while helping with a friend's 40th wedding anniversary party. It was fun, but I'm literally dead on my feet! Hope you have fun sewing! Looking forward to see what you do. ---"Love"

  2. Ohhhhh, that's going to be cute! I love all the little squares. Glad your machine was ready early. When I took mine in last fall before I went on vacation I estimated it would be back shortly after I got home. Nope! The girl at the shop who does the repair and cleaning had a medical issue with her son and it was almost a month and a half before I got it back. Glad you are no longer in sewing withdrawal, have fun!

  4. Looks like a lot of piecing to me! But, that's what we quilters do. How nice to get your sewing machine back early!

  5. I bet you'll be cooking dinner! (Ha ha ha!) I'm so happy for you that you got your machine back a whole week early! (I bet your family is happy too?) I'm curious how those strips are going to end up as sashing, so get sewing!
