Snowalong

The Snowalong Sew-along has ended, but the block patterns are still available to purchase in my Etsy shop in sets of 2 or 3 or as a complete set.  Please share pictures of your snowflakes.  I'd love to see them, whenever they get made!

Button 7Welcome to the Snowalong Sew-along, where all snowflakes have six-fold symmetry!  I’d love to have you join in to sew up a snowstorm!

Each 9” paper-pieced snowflake block design offers at least 3 variations,  depending on which color you use for which patch.  I’m not going to make all the permutations, but I’d love to see them made up so I’m going to share a pattern weekly, free for a limited time, and have a linky party every week.  Link up and show us what the flurries look like in your sewing room!!  If you sew snowflake blocks from a different pattern, share those too!  Can we manage a blizzard?

This will be a very relaxed party.  You don't need to officially sign up anywhere. Download the patterns and make one block or make many, it’s up to you!  If you miss a week, join us the next week.  Pop in and pop out again, we’re really very informal here.  If you don’t have a blog but want to participate, you can join the Snowalong Sew-along Facebook group and share there.

And just because I’m so excited about sewing snowflakes I learned to make a blog button just for this sew along!  Feel free to grab the code from the box at the bottom of this page to add the button to your sidebar if you wish.

    1. I plan on about 1/8 yard of white per snowflake, and 1 yard of background fabric for every 5 blocks. You can figure amounts depending on how many snowflakes you plan to make. Other than that, maybe a cup of hot beverage to ward off the chill?

    1. Hi Peggy. If you come back to this page on Monday, you'll be able to click on September 29 in the list above, and it will take you to the blog post for that day. In that post I will explain how to go get the free download. To join the linky party the next week, you'd write a post on your own blog. I'll have instructions that week about how to link for those of you who are new to it. It's easy, no computer code knowledge required.
I'm also thinking of starting a Facebook group so those of you without blogs who came this way via Facebook could share your pictures that way.

  8. All you need to do to "get in" is come back here on Monday and click on September 29 to go to the relevant blog post. Participating is really just sewing as many or as few blocks as you like and sharing pictures. Sharing pictures is even optional, but it makes it more fun!
