2014 in Review

Happy New Year!

Looking back, I think 2014 was my most productive year of quilting so far. I finished 6 quilts, an astonishing 4 of which were started and finished the same year. Well, that’s astonishing for me!

2014 quilts

Top row: Canada Quilt, Sparkling Strings, Star Steps

Bottom row:  Starlight Wishes, Sparkling Trail, Forty-Eight

I started and finished a few small projects.

2014 runners

Snowflake runner and pillow, Christmas Snowflakes, Birthday runner, Stretch

I also started and finished the top for my son’s next quilt.  I have been hand quilting it and estimate that about 1/4 of it is quilted.  My goal is to get it into the 2015 review of finishes!

I spent a good chunk of the fall designing snowflake blocks and turning them into patterns to share in my Snowalong Sew-along. I’m still reeling from realizing that each of the six patterns was downloaded at least 700 times, some as many as 900!  Thanks for the encouragement, everyone!

I also added 4 new quilt patterns to my shop.

Now to start 2015! I spent the day today setting up my payhip shop so I can continue to sell to any European Union customers without falling foul of EU tax laws. I reformatted my “pattern for sale” page too (see the tab at he top of this page).  It was rather tedious way to start 2015, but now that’s it’s all set up I feel like I have a clean slate to get started sewing and designing for the new year.

Off I go!  That little owl I showed a couple of days ago is hooting loudly.  He needs borders…

  2. Amazing.... and you ventured out of your comfy zone for the free motion quilting on the quilts. I think I'll go sew a snowflake! Thanks so much for sharing all your wonderful patterns. You are one talented lady.

  5. You are one pretty accomplished lady, I must say! I had hope to get ONE pattern submitted for either in Craftsy or Moda Bakeshop...did not even write one syllable of it, although I did buy fabric to make the second quilt to test what I did...Now this whole EU VAT thing has scared me away a bit I must say. I loved your Snowalong and sure hope people are now paying the mere $3 to get these gorgeous patterns where someone ELSE did all the math, ;-) It's pretty rewarding, isn't it, to look back on a year and see all you did get done, right? This is a tally you should be pretty proud of! Looking forward to see where you go in 2015! Happy New Year to you and your family. :0)

  14. You've definitely had a good year. And 900 downloads of some of the snowflakes? Fantastic! I've seen them pop up here and there on Pinterest and I don't follow that many people, so I had a feeling they were a hit. (Not so much for me, as me and paper piecing aren't such good friends...never mind needing a new project like a hole in the head!) Here's to hoping 2015 will be equally, if not more, productive!
